The Counseling program
at Camas Prairie assists students with their personal, social,
emotional, and academic growth. As the school counselor I work
collaboratively with the principal, teachers, students, and parents
concerning issues that may interfere with a student's academic or
personal growth. These issues may include but are not limited
to peer or social difficulties, bullying, behavior problems,
family changes such as divorce and deployment. They may also involve more serious
issues such as abuse, domestic violence, substance abuse, and being
homeless. A variety of services are provided to address these
issues and meet the student's needs. They may include individual
and small group counseling, classroom guidance lessons, peer
facilitation/mediation, consultation with teachers and parents,
crisis intervention, parenting activities, collaboration with
community mental health providers, and connecting families with the
appropriate community resource.
