Seeing Stars - The phenomenon results from a change in
blood flow to the brain. Any loss of blood to the brain-easily
caused by standing up, an action that forces blood away from the
head-deprives the nerve cells of oxygen, sugar and other nutrients.
This causes a brief, random firing of neurons, which is interpreted
by the brain's visual cortex as quick flashes of light, or 'stars.'
'Stars' can also be produced by a blow to the head which alters the
normal state of the nerve cells.

Welcome back to school! You should have seen a letter filled with
useful information already. Just in case...here is a list of some
important details that you may have missed:

assignment in class.
- Students need a spiral bound notebook for journal.
- Student must have a planner of some sort as it is used
daily.
- I am available before and after school in room 101.
- My phone number is 683-8411
- Additional helpful tools are: colored pencils, scissors,
calculator and pencils.
- Class grades are based on the ABCI policy.
I am looking forward to a fun year.
Science is fun!
