Hello,
My name is Kellie Williams. I am the 8th grade LAP Reading
and Math Specialist at Frontier Junior High School. I also
administer reading and math assessments to all 8th graders at
Frontier.
Students qualify for Frontier reading and math classes by
individual scores on two different assessments. The first
assessment is the AGS. The second is the WASL reading or math
score.
Reading students work to improve areas such as fluency, decoding,
comprehension, and vocabulary. Math students work to improve math
areas such as basic facts, decimals, and fractions. The harder a
student works in their reading or math class the faster they will
improve. I reassess all students in November, January, April,
and June.
We encourage parents to volunteer in these reading and math
classrooms. Even one hour each week is helpful. Please come in and
sign up to become a volunteer today!
