“ Winterfest! Seattle Center Monday, Dec 7th, 2009" Type of Transportation: 4-5 PRIVATE CARS and A LARGE VAN OR TRUCK are required for 14 stringers, two string bass instruments, a cello, violins and violas.
Parents, we need help transporting students and instruments to and from Seattle. Please consider driving your son/daughter plus 3-5 riders to and from the event, and helping chaperone for the day. Name (please print):

Choristers and Chaperones PARK at GK's far far Faaaaaarrrr end of the lot by the Choir Room. Choristers. Yes, The FAR FAR end of the Choir room entrance parking lot. 7:00AM DEPART PROMPTLY. Bus arrives at Yakima Convention Center 12:30: Sound Check and warm-ups for PERFORMANCE 2:45-4:15PM Concert Performance in the Yakima Convention Center, for the Hall of Fame Concert and Keynote Address. Parents may attend the performance (no cost) as long as there is seating for all teachers who have paid to attend the session concert (In my experience there is almost always room). CHANGE/DEPART Depart: Following the session, students will change to informal clothes; back to bus. We will drop All-Staters to the All-State Rehearsals, then the bus departs for Graham (anticipate a fast food dinner stop en route home –Ellensburg. Arrive Graham 7:30ish (Watch for updates). RETURN 8:30 PM Friday Jan 15th (watch for updates) FOOD: Anticipate bringing money for 1 Fast Food Lunch Thursday ($5-$8) or sack lunch, and 1 Fast Food Dinner ($5-$8). UNIFORM- Full Formal Uniforms and Robes and Informal (Polos, sweatshirts, khakis and brown shoes). Plan to sweat the small details for uniform look: Haircuts, hems, hose, socks, formal black plain pump black shoes, no open toes or heels. Plan now. MUSIC: BRING BLACK FOLDERS with your GKHS music, All State Music, Pencils, Pitchpipes inside. ALL STATERS: Bring ALL your stuff for All State, and your BLACK formal wear with robe over the top (no coat, men-too heavy!) for the All State Concert. BTW, we will gather AFTER the All State Concert for a GK All State Photo in the Sun Dome down on the Floor. We may invite the All State conductor for this-be ready to gather right away after dismissal. Solo Ensemble Schedule for Sat Feb 9th is posted in "Documents. See
me if there is a conflict! QUESTION OF THE MONTH: "Is there Chamber Choir THIS morning? The
answer is still "of course, yes!" 6:30 to 7:30AM. And don't
forget the cocoa. BTW, Solo Ensemble (March 1st!) is fast
approaching! Note: Students with attendance issues may not be
allowed to compete. ***WMEA Performance Tour Information Sheet and Permission Forms are now online (see "Documents"). The itinerary is being updated daily. Please download, print and obtain teacher signatures to turn in by FRIDAY 1/25. Your tour fee asap, but no later than Feb 8th. Chaperones Needed: 2-4 parent Chaperones to ride on the bus for the duration of the Tour and 3-4 Chaperone Drivers (3 Van "drive along-side" cars/vans for the tour), that can help that can transport All-Staters to rehearsals following our performance Friday). Ensemble Contest is Feb 9th. Sign-ups are NOW! Paperwork on
the piano in the Choir room. Make final plans for your solos and
ensembles NOW. Entries must be paid for THIS WEEK, prior to online
sign-ups. Solos: $10 Small Ensembles $15 and Large Ensembles
$20. Please pay Mrs Westbrooke at ASB. Please
make checks to GKHS, and make a lower left note "STRINGS
SE." Vocal Solo Ensemble Contest is March
1st. Sign-ups are just about complete. All students should
be finishing accompanist decisions. You may obtain Study Hall
Passes for rehearsals starting immediately.Entries must be
entirely paid for, prior to online sign-ups. Solos: $10 Small
Ensembles $15 and Large Ensembles $20. Please pay Mrs Westbrooke at

How:
We gather your shoes and fill them
with stuffing items—socks, toiletries, books, small games and
toys, stamps, toothbrushes and toothpaste—anything that will
fit inside a pair of shoes and the box that comes with
it.
What
else? We need
“stuffing,” wrapping paper, ribbon, tape and scissors
for the packaging; cocoa, apple cider and cookies for the stuffers
(that’s you!) on the day of the event, and parents to help
oversee the event. A set-up/clean-up crew will be needed as
well.
Who?
All Vivace families and GK helpers.
Each family is encouraged to donate one (1) pair of shoes and
stuffing items to help.
Who
Benefits? The stuffed shoes
go to the community food bank to help area families in
need.
